There is not one highrise in town. On site that means decades of it: oven carbon baked and rebaked, range hood filters gone gummy, cabinet interiors and cabinet tops nobody has wiped since the last owner, grime in the seams of sixty-year-old trim. None of that comes off with a wipe. It needs dwell time, the right chemical and a scraper. The census also flagged 120 Devon dwellings, 4.8 percent of them, as needing major repairs. Old Town to South Ravines
Old Town is the original Imperial Oil grid, laid out from 1948, and the Town's assessment roll lists it as Devon's largest residential market location. The street names give it away: Athabasca, Columbia, Saskatchewan, St. Lawrence, Haven. Those are the heaviest move-out cleans in town. Highwood and Kananaskis is the denser pocket, with condo addresses like Highwood Green and Kananaskis Court, so the work there is usually a tighter suite, faster turnaround. Birchwood, Oakland, Simonette, Huron and Riverview are settled family streets. Then the southwest flips it. Off Michigan Street, the Ravines of Devon and South Ravines are where Qualico has been building walkout and ravine-backing lots, with a Stage 3 subdivision approved in 2025. If a Devon house is under three years old, it is almost certainly out there, and it needs drywall dust pulled out rather than old grease.
Highway 60, Highway 19 and Month-End
Highway 60 is the road north out of Devon, across the North Saskatchewan River, and it is how we come in from Edmonton. The Town's own transportation work names Devon's Highway 60 connections as the weak point, singling out westbound-to-southbound left turns in the morning rush. We pad the drive rather than cut a possession-day arrival fine. Highway 19 runs east, a 12 km corridor tying Highway 60 to the QEII past the Edmonton International Airport and Nisku. Only 32.3 percent of employed Devon residents with a usual workplace work inside Devon, and 65.9 percent commute to another municipality. So the house is normally empty on a weekday, which is when a crew moves fastest. Leave a lockbox code. Month-end is the crunch. If the walkthrough is the 30th, the crew goes in before it.
Who Books Cleaning Services in Devon, and What Gets Proved
Devon is not a boomtown. It lost 0.5 percent of its population between 2016 and 2021 and now runs near 1.5 percent growth a year, and Battery Creek, the 271 hectares annexed from Leduc County in 2015, is approved and planned rather than built. What Devon does have is turnover: 35.7 percent of residents had moved within the previous five years. My house is in Old Town and the oven has never been stripped. Is that extra?
No. Old Town holds Devon's oldest housing, and across the whole town 46.6 percent of occupied dwellings were built in 1980 or earlier at the 2021 census, so a caked oven is the normal starting point here rather than the exception. Oven interiors, cabinet interiors and interior windows are inside the move-out and move-in cleans we quote, not add-ons bolted on at the end.
